Married Monday: Saying “I Love You”

I may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post. This helps me support my blog and my family at no extra cost to you.

One of the absolute best things about being married is the whole getting to say and hear “I love you” all the time. Seriously, it is right up there with the whole getting sex all the time thing. There’s something special about those three little words. Something that makes you feel better, makes the world easier to handle, and can make difficult times a little better.

I love that I have no doubt that The Boy loves me. He tells me daily. Every morning before he goes to work, he kisses me and tells me. Every text or phone call ends with “I love you”. And every night when I kiss him good night – yep, he tells me.

How does being told “I love you” effect your day or your mood?

And I’m not just talking about someone actually saying the words, “I love you” – I’m talking about the little things you or they do to make you understand how they love you. Maybe it’s always taking the aisle seat
so you can have the window. Or maybe they cleaned up all your puke when you had the flu and couldn’t make it to the bathroom in time. Maybe it’s making sure the snow is scraped off your car and the windows are defrosted. Or maybe it’s just always remembering that you like your Quarter Pounder without ketchup or onions.

Sometimes, saying “I love you” is in the little actions.

How do you know your partner loves you?

This morning my partner made me an americano and put it in a travel mug next to my bag before I left for work. Spending the time to surprise me by making my favorite coffee drink is how I know he loves me.

  • Great post! There’s a lot of those little things happening in my new marriage! One of them this weekend- vacuuming cause he knows a clean house makes my heart sing 🙂
