Um, sometimes a wedding is so wonderfully gorgeous AND geekerific that I squee a little inside. And the wedding of Carly Shoupe and Harry Tapp is TOTALLY squee-inducing. From the how-we-met ghost story to the light sabers to the box o' wine… it's FAB.

From the bride, "Harry and I met and got to know each other while participating in a few
Paranormal Investigations. Our interest in historical sites and the
unknown gave us a good start for getting to know each other and it's fun
to tell people that we first met in an old brothel (The Exchange Hotel
in Virginia) and started our relationship at an asylum (St. Albans in
Virginia).

A lot of inspiration came from the venue and our shared interest in
vintage/antique looking decor. That evolved into a collection of items
the were reminiscent of Victorian decor, but not overly traditional.
Ultimately, we went with what we liked and it came together nicely for
the Sunday afternoon cocktail reception wedding we wanted.

We did a lot of DIY, from the flowers to the rehearsal dinner to the
decor. It made everything a little more meaningful to me because so
many people helped us along the way. Putting together the flowers was
probably the most fun part of it all. We also were blessed with vendors
who really cared about our slightly non-traditional approach and helped
us make it a beautiful day. However, I think the most special part were
the family members and friends who were part of the marriage ceremony.
The marriage was performed by a dear family friend, and he and his wife
has spent many nights working with us through marriage preparation.
Other friends helped out with day-of items and so many people went above
and beyond. The whole planning process was special and personal for us
and demonstrated what a great support system we have in our loved ones.

Everyone is going to tell you to breathe and savor every moment, and I
don't know if that is possible unless you are the most Zen bride on
earth. You will look back and see things you could have done differently
or something you should have asked for, but the best advice I was given
was to remember what the day is about. It is about the marriage, about
celebrating this person you get to enjoy your whole life with and all
the good and bad you will face together. Don't let tradition or
expectations get in the way of what will make the experience special to
you, but still accept that it probably won't be exactly perfect and it's
ok. The wedding day stories come from the moments were something goes a
little wrong and hopefully you can laugh about it. Even if you can't,
you are saying 'I do' to that person who will comfort you or laugh with
you after all is said and done. It may go fast, it may go wrong, but use
it as a reminder of all the love that you and your spouse share and are
surrounded by every day."

Seriously, would y'all incorporate light sabers into your wedding? Because that'd be AWESOME.
