I love a good vow renewal! Nothing wrong with celebrating your married time and remembering why you're together. And if you're going to do it – why not do it pretty like Emily and Dean of Oklahoma did. Their renewal ceremony was very intimate and carefully planned – much like their marriage.

From Emily, "We chose to keep our vow renewal personal because we had a big wedding
five years ago. We felt that we spent too much time worrying about
making everything perfect and pleasing the guests. An intimate ceremony
gave us the opportunity to focus on our renewed commitment between the
two of us and God.

We renewed our vows on August 8th 2013, exactly five years after our
wedding on August 8th 2008. We got married at 8:08 pm for both
ceremonies. We loved the 8 theme and wanted to keep our vow renewal on
the same date as our wedding.

Over the past 5 years of marriage we have learned many important
lessons. Firstly, love and accept your spouse for the person that they
are and never try to change them into something they are not. We have
learned that love is not easy. Love takes hard work, dedication, and
communication from both spouses. When two people are truly in love they
can take on life’s toughest challenges side-by-side and will build a
stronger marriage along the way. Most importantly, always say I love
you."

Why Emily loves Dean, "I love Dean because he is laid-back, funny, caring, kind, and
committed. I admire him for always working hard at becoming a better man
and a better husband. He has always loved me, regardless of my
imperfections. I feel the most like myself when I am with him. Most of
all, I love that he never fails to put a smile on my face with his
silliness. What is love without someone that can make you happy right?

Why Dean loves Emily, "There are many reasons why I love Emily and it’s a tough list to
narrow down, but I’ll try my best. I love Emily because she brings out
the best in people, even me. When I am upset about work she always tells
me to look at it from a different perspective, which in turn changes my
perspective on the situation. She loves her family, her friends, and me
unconditionally. She is willing to help no matter what she has going on
in her life. She always wears a beautiful smile on her face. She makes
me want to be a better husband and a better person in all aspects of my
life and I look up to her for her maturity and honesty. She is a great
person to share life with. I am honored that she chose me to be her
husband, TWICE."
