Hay Bales

Hay Bales are a staple of ranch and farm stores. There are two kinds – straw, coastal, and alfalfa. Straw is MUCH cheaper than the other two (and some places even let you rent them!). Generally located some where outside the building, these can be used several ways.

The easiest way is as seating. As a courtesy to your guests, plan to cover the bales with blankets, quilts, or some kind of fabric so the straw doesn't poke them or stick in their clothes.

Pile huge circular hay bales for a really striking ceremony backdrop!

Love the idea of using a lot of hay bales to create a super comfy lounge area at the reception.

Attire

Every Tractor Supply has a nice selection of attire, from boots to belts to baseball caps, though roughly 70% of it is geared toward men. However, if the groom or groomsmen are goin' cowboy then swing by for some gear.

The groomsmen in this wedding wore dress jeans and sported belt buckles that could also double as groomsmen gifts.

And remember, boots aren't just limited to the men! There's no reason that the bride and bridesmaids can't rock 'em, too.

Even the kids can wear boots! Check these cutie patootie flower girls in their adorable pink footwear.

Tin Pails and Bushel Baskets

These require zero DIY skills – just buy and use. Look for the bushel baskets (in all sizes) in the gardening section and the tin pails in the feed department.

Some stores carry these mini pails which are perfect for a candy buffet! Just have your guests fill them up and take them home as a favor.

I used bushel baskets in my own wedding (as a nod to The Boy's grandfather's produce stand) ans they were a hit as containers on the buffet table. Line them with fabric or napkins to keep the splinters out of the food!

Rope, Twine, and String

For those of you who are a little DIY-shy, don't worry – you can do TONS with the wide range of rope, twine, and string in the hardware section.

I love the idea of turning a cone of jute twine into a unique ring pillow. Just wrap and wrap the twine around a cardboard heart!

I so love this idea of turning smaller flower boxes into serving containers for a buffet (and paired with gardening tools as servers!).

Canning Jars

Canning jars (frequently referred to as Mason or Ball jars) are a staple of weddings these days – and for good reason! Canning jars are super versatile and can be used again after the wedding is over.

Pick up enough jars and you can make your own favors that double as escort cards! Just slap on a label, fill them with a yummy snack, and screw on a lid.

Yep, canning jars make great glasses for your wedding!

And, of course, you can always fill canning jars with flowers for a sweet but simple centerpiece.

Other Ideas

In the feed department, look for milk cans. With a little work, these metal canisters make awesome beverage dispensers or could even be used as a sweet way to collect cards! Wash them thoroughly beforehand to clean out any residue.

Up by the register, these stores have a wide variety of old-fashioned candy which would be lovely in a candy buffet at the reception.

Tractor Supply has tons of troughs and feed buckets that are large enough to double as beverage centers. Just fill with ice and let guests pick their own!

In the gardening area, there's a small selection of seeds which could be really sweet favors.

Seed packets could also be used as escort cards ("planted" in a seedling box?) or place cards.

Chicken wire is inexpensive and easy to DIY with. Pick some up and staple it in a frame for escort cards or, on a larger scale, a ceremony backdrop (and you could even tie scraps of fabric to it for a really cool, textured look).

In the gardening department, pick up some seedling boxes or watering cans for fun centerpiece containers.

And don't forget the ultimate wedding classic – birdseed is still a good option for a recessional toss!

Are any of you planning to pick up a little something for your wedding from Tractor Supply?
