Y'all know that, over the past billion years, we've been remodeling our home. Okay, that was a slight exaggeration but it really feels like it's been taking that long. Well, we're headed into the home stretch and planning a living room addition plus another bedroom (slated for this summer). And, while I cannot wait for the much-needed extra space, I found that the idea of a bigger home was starting to cause my anxiety to kick in. I started waking up in the middle of night worrying about whether I had planned enough in the budget for new furniture, did I really need all that extra room, what if the larger size makes my house feel cold, how am I going to make sure that my family is secure and safe in our home? I really was stressing out hard so I decided to be proactive and create that safe spot that I craved. Here's how I started feeling cozy in our home thanks to better security (featuring Iris by Lowe's)!

I decided to be proactive and create that safe spot that I craved. Here's how I started feeling cozy in our home thanks to better security and a coffee spot (featuring Iris by Lowe's)! Here's how I'm feeling cozy in our home thanks to better security and a coffee spot featuring MyIrisSecurity AD

Installing an Iris by Lowe's Smart Hub and Security Pack was one of the best things that I've done in the months leading up to the next step in our remodel. It has given me a calm and a sense of security that I wasn't feeling before. My kids and I tend to spend nearly all of our time at home (since I work from home plus, I'm a seriously introverted homebody) and my husband works long hours and lots of overtime. That can sometimes make me worry about how safe we are – especially at night when I hear odd noises outside. I find myself thinking, “Is that a deer or an intruder?” Luckily, the Iris by Lowe's Security Pack includes a motion sensor plus 2 door and window sensors that allow me some peace of mind since I can keep tabs on who's coming and going. I also love that the sensors can alert me right away when doors or windows are opened unexpectedly plus, I can schedule our lights to turn on or off when we're away to fool people into thinking we're there! HA! SUCK IT, POTENTIAL THIEVES.

I was so excited to install the Iris by Lowe's Smart Hub since it allows us to have customizable smart home devices that will work alongside affordable home security and automation. It's really awesome because we can invest in the Smart Hub and a Starter Pack right now and then add more options later as we need them. It's so cool that this smart home plus security system can be connected to a huge range of Iris-compatible devices and all through a single app! It makes me happy that the system can be DIY installed by me, with the same benefits of professional security monitoring AND a home management option, but I can nix the (coughcoughexpensivecoughcough) security firm contract and fees. Seriously – the service plan for the Iris professional monitoring service is only $14.95 a month. $14.95! A! MONTH! It's like, THE best value of any home security system out there, y'all.

In addition, the Iris system is SO easy to set up and has over a 100 different home automation options that are compatible and you can easily install them yourself (seriously, Melanie helped me set up our Smart Hub and the motion sensor [before she got bored and wandered off to “hewp the cat bwow her nose”.]). You can literally create your home's smart home DNA with any number or combination of sensors, switches, plugs, keypads, locks, thermostats, bulbs, alarms, detectors, garage openers, heaters, vents… OMG. There are just so many options and all the customer service and support you come to expect from Lowe’s – all controlled by a single app on your device or smart phone.

I was so impressed with this home automation system that I installed a Wi-Fi Smart Switch in our kitchen's coffee nook so that my husband could control and schedule turning his coffee pot on and off. How cozy is that, right??? I seriously love using the Iris app (P.S. It's free to download) to keep track of everything around my home and schedule some of the smaller “chores” from the comfort of my couch. Keep in mind that there's also a new feature in the app called Alarm Tracker™. Iris also offers Premium and Pro Monitoring to customers. And guess what? Right now, my readers can use the code: MYIRISSECURITY to receive 10% off Iris starter packs and smart hubs (valid 5/30 – 6/29).  GET YOURS NOW!

I’m all about the smart home! We have Google Home + Philip’s Hue Lights all over our home now so that we can voice control all the lights. It’s helpful.

  • We’ve been looking into a security system! We have a few recs but I’ll put this down to check out also. Lowes is so closeby it’d be crazy not to!

  • Oh man, whenever the day comes that I own my own place (or rent something that’s not an apartment), I’m going to be all up in a security system like this haha. I get so creeped out by little noises at night time!!

  • Carly Anderson

This is such a cool system!

  • Kendra Darr

I love having a security system. It definitely makes random noises at nice less scary.

  • I need one of these for our house! I would love having a security system like this
